MuzzyWe have recently added MUZZY,  the award winning multimedia foriegn language program for children, to our database offerings.  This is an entertaining and effective way to introduce young children to Spanish, Mandarin, French,  and many others.   It is also a source of help for children learning English as a second language.  You can access MUZZY from home, on this homepage,  by clicking on the first item under the RESEARCH TAB....DATABASES. Select the STUDENT tab on the right, and you will find MUZZY listed amongst the other databases so valuable to young learners.

Help During Difficult Times

Help During a Difficult Time

Since the day that tragedy struck the town of Newtown, Connecticut, people have been struggling to comprehend this unimagineable act of violence.  As a result, many of us (including children and students) are experiencing sadness, grief, and anxiety.  Below is a resource link, prepared by the youth service librarians of Rockland County, to help us cope during this difficult time.  We hope that it can be of help and comfort.

Blizzard of Good Wishes!

Many thanks to all who donated to the project.  Sandy Hook has been overwhelmed with snowflakes from everywhere!  We have mailed out what was already donated and won't be collecting any more.

To quote a recent Newtown Patch article:

"Connecticut PTSA is deeply saddened by the tragedy that has struck our Newtown community.  We have met with the PTA and community leaders in Newtown and Sandy Hook Elementary to offer our assistance at this very difficult time.  They have asked us to spearhead the following efforts on their behalf......Snowflakes for Sandy Hook.  Please help the students of Sandy Hook have a winter wonderland at their new school!  Get creative!" This is just one project on the list.
