Summer Reading

Kids (2 years old and up)

June 22- August 15

Join us for a Virtual Summer of Fun!  We can’t be in the building this summer, so we’re bringing the crafts, music, magic, animals and more to you!  Check out our summer programs for kids and register through our online calendar of events.

“Imagine Your Story” is the 2020 Summer Reading Club theme.  We’ll be featuring fantasy, fairy tales, adventures and heroes, but you can imagine your own story to be anything you’d like – so read anything that interests you!  We’ll be using an online reporting system this year, so you can log your books from home.  Easily log your activity using the READsquared app. The app is free for both Android and iOS mobile devices and can be found in the App store for iPhone/iPad or Google Play.  Earn badges and automatically get entered for our random drawing prizes.

We hope you’ll be reading all summer long. We’ll have challenges, drawings and prizes too.  Earn virtual badges for completing reading challenge levels.  The more you log in on your Readsquared account, the more chances you’ll have to win!

While we don’t know what the summer will hold for us, you can still have fun and maybe win a prize just by reading! You can participate in this contest digitally or by phone. Just as in years past with adult summer reading, you read a book and enter a review. In previous years, the end of summer winner was a random raffle pull. We will still pick one winner at random, but this year there are additional categories!

Most Reviews: We have some powerhouse readers that really devour books! Be this year’s biggest reader! Review all your books and compete to have the Most Reviews.

Funniest Review: The space provided isn’t very large — just enough for a couple of sentences. If you crack us up with your quick wit you could win Funniest Review.

Review that Made Us Check it Out: Did you love what you read? If you can convince us to read it too, you could be a winner!

So that’s four potential big-prize winners! You can read any kind of book, in any kind of format, including audiobooks and ebooks. Starting June 1, click here to submit your review or call and leave a voicemail on 845-288-3757 with your name, book title, author, your review and whether or not we can post it on social media to help others choose their next read.

Books let us escape, they help us tell our stories, and this summer we will all need to do both. You can find staff recommendations on our YouTube Page or our Goodreads page  or call our reference staff at 845-288-3133 for a personalized pick. Or try out Novelist, an amazing database that helps you find your next read!
