A friend was asking me last week about what eReader to buy. When I talked about the various formats and what the library supplies, she was surprised. “You mean I can get ebooks from the library” she asked. The New City Library has supplied downloadable audio books for many years and ebooks in the last few.
In anticipation of many people getting readers for the holidays, we just purchased a large number of new titles. The various formats are still fighting it out for their share of the market place, but we ordered predominantly in the e-pub format which seems to be compatible with most readers. This order was predominantly romance and mysteries, but we made certain we would have items currently on the New York Times Bestseller list.
We purchase copies that are only available to New City Library customers in addition to titles available to everyone in the region. To get access to our titles, you need to log in with your library card and PIN. You can go there directly by clicking HERE .
Like a book that circulates, the ebook is checked out for a period of time. On most titles the publisher requires us to purchase access to multiple copies if we want more than one copy checked out. Here are some titles I am interested in reading, so get to them now before I get around to it, but believe me if you want romances and mysteries you need to check it out.
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson – The third in this series on mystery and revenge.
Medium Raw by Anthony Bourdain – By the always interesting restaurant/cooking TV show host on the Travel Channel.
Bob Dylan in America by Sean Wilentz—Biography of Bob Dylan and why his songs still surprise and move us after all these years.
Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich –The story of the founders of Face Book and inspired the movie “Social Network”.
