New International Language

Tucked underneath a staircase lies one of the library’s special collections. Our international language section has always contained Spanish, Korean and Russian titles. Recently though a cart has made an appearance with our latest collection: Hindi! Fifty titles, mostly fiction with a few great non-fiction books, have been purchased and made available to all borrowers. Enjoy!

Read a classic novel in 2011!

Around this time of year, everyone is making lists. The best of, the worst of and what you need to do this year that you’ve never done before. Among them are dozens of lists of 100 books to read, but who has the time to work through them? So what about just the top ten? After looking at dozens of top one hundred lists, I've found ten books that are New Year's resolution worthy:

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitgerald
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
The Trial by Franz Kafka
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
