Our Luna Moth has hatched. She must be released soon - so come say hello before 4pm Tuesday!
We have new paint, new carpeting and new 6-legged guests. What does that mean? Come in and see our live ladybugs and praying mantises soon to hatch! Many programs are offered this Spring, from Duct Tape wallets, Mr. Kurt shows, and School's Out movies to Simple Sign Language, Garden Rockers, and Techi Spy Guys. The garden is beginning to flower and the collections inside are growing, too. If you need information on anything from Aardvarks to Zambonis, we are your one-stop shopping destination! Keep an eye on the Children's webpage and events tab for up-to-date information on all our activities. Check out the good homework and entertainment website tips for kids!
Even though there are rumors of snow, the daffodils have started to bloom in the Children's Garden! The Garden Rockers will meet for the first time of this season next Thursday, March 15, at 7:00pm. Spaces are filling up, so if you are in grades 2 - 5 and have a New City or West Nyack Library card and would like to join - register soon in person or by phone. Think Spring, Rockers!
What fun stuff can you do with the kids during school break February 21 - 24? Come on over to the Library and enjoy one of these open programs. All you need is your New City or West Nyack Library card for admission! Tuesday 4:00 pm - Rappin' Raptors - meet live birds. Tuesday 7:00 pm - City Winds Trio. Wednesday - 6:30 pm - Family PJ Storytime. Thursday 1:30 pm - Young Ones Storytime. Thursday 3:00 pm - Family Movie. Thursday 6:00 pm - Mr. Kurt. Friday - 3:00 pm - Family Movie.
Come meet some live local birds from the Tenafly Nature Center and hear about how they live. Why are they called "raptors"? How did they come to live at the Nature Center? How fast can they fly? Find out the answers to these questions -- and more -- on Tuesday, February 21 at 4:00 pm. No tickets are necessary, but you need to show your New City or West Nyack Library card for admittance on a first-come, first-served basis.
Don't forget - next Thursday, 2/23 and Friday, 2/24 during the Clarkstown Schools break we will show family movies at 3:00pm here at the library. No tickets are required, but you need your New City or West Nyack Library card for admittance. A limit of 85 persons are allowed in the room per fire regulations, so you may want to arrive a little early. Yes - there will be popcorn!
Even though snow is covering some of our garden, Spring will be here before we know it! Keep an eye on our website and think about warmer days! We will need to get together in March/April to clean up after the Winter storms and plan our new season of gardening.
Join Mrs. B for a six-week Winter session at the Congers Train Station. We will begin our weekly program on Tuesday January 24 at 10:00am and our last session will be Tuesday February 28. Remember to bring your floor mat and a grown-up! Come to as many sessions as are convenient for you. No registration is necessary. This storytime is appropriate for preschoolers 3 and up. Hope to see you there! (Please check the library website during inclement weather, in case we get stuck in the snow and can't meet!)
Mrs. B will be back at the Congers Train Station for All Aboard! Storytime once per week at 10:00 am starting Tuesday January 24 through Tuesday February 28 for a six-week winter session. Please bring a carpet square or cushion for sitting on the floor. Adults must stay nearby in case they are needed. (Chairs are available for adults.) This program is appropriate for preschoolers ages 3+ and no registration is necessary - come to one or all! Please check the library website for updates in case of inclement weather. See you there!
